Is my modem connected properly?

Cable Modem A properly connected modem will have all lights lit except the standby light. This ensures the transfer of data to and from your NetCall Phone Adapter.

If your modem is not working:

  • check what lights are lit.
  • if no lights are on, please check to ensure that the modem is plugged into an outlet the connection on the modem is tight.
  • if Standby is lit, check for a button on the top or side of the modem and press it. This will turn off Standby mode and all lights should turn on.
Once all lights are on please ensure that all cables are plugged into the modem. You will need an ethernet cable running from your modem to your NetCall Phone Adapter.

Why can't I get dial tone?

First make sure your NetCall Phone Adapter is registered and locked on (the "Light Bulb" icon must be on solid). If you are using the SPA3000 Phone Adapter you have to press the # button on your phones touch pad before you can make NetCall Digital Telephone calls. Also make sure to check your wiring is correct, check the quick installation guide for details. If still no dial tone reboot your modem, then reboot your NetCall Phone Adapter and router if you have one.

How do I reset or reboot my NetCall Digital Telephone?

On some occasions, such as after a power outage or equipment change in our headend, you may find your NetCall Digital Telephone is no longer locking on to our system so you cannot get dial tone. This can easily be fixed by just rebooting the system. Rebooting simply means turning the power off then back on again.

To reboot your system you must power off and on again each piece of gear in order. Be sure to wait between each piece of gear to acquire before rebooting the next piece of gear as they pass information from one to the next.

  1. Start with your Cable modem. Unplug the power and plug it in again.
  2. Next unplug the power to the router and plug it in again. You may not have a router connected to your NetCall Phone Adapter. If this is the case, please proceed to step 3.
  3. Finally unplug the power to your NetCall Phone Adapter and plug it in again. A light on the back of the NetCall Phone Adapter will turn on when power is connected properly to the unit.
